Child Creole & a Coconuts occurs as American band created and led by Dominican/French Canadian August "Kid Creole" Darnell. Their music incorporates styles rather big band jazz, disco, and particularly Caribbean/Latin American salsa. the Coconuts were a glamourous trio of female backing vocalizer.
A band's debut album was a heavy disco-influenced "Off the Coast of Me" (1980). Watch-ups involved "Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places" (1981), "Tropical Gangsters" (1982), and "I, Too, Have Seen the Woods" (1987). Notable hits include "Annie, I'm Not your Daddy" & "Stool Pigeon".
He today lives in the Dinnington area of South Yorkshire & still tours by using a Coconuts and likewise leading 70s musical revival shows.
